Food Tax Refunds

Aspen, Colorado – January 4, 2017 – Aspen residents who lived within the city limits
for the entire year of 2016 and are registered voters are eligible for a $50
Food Sales Tax Refund, including their dependents. Residents 65 or older and
residents that are legally blind are eligible for additional refund
All applicants are
required to be a registered voter in the City of Aspen by 1/1/16 to qualify for
the Food Sales Tax Refund. Limited
exceptions for persons barred from registering to vote may qualify.
The City created
Food Sales Tax Refunds as an incentive to encourage voters to support a sales
tax referendum. It was intended to
reimburse voters for the approximate amount of sales tax that they would pay
annually on grocery purchases due to the imposition of a 1% City sales tax.

The deadline for
applications is Monday, April 17 at 5:00 pm.
No postmarks will be accepted after the deadline. Please contact the City
