Recycling pick-up services are offered by all the waste haulers serving the businesses and residents of Aspen. However, the specific rules vary depending on the hauler. Some use what is called single-stream and some use a 4 bin recycling system. A few of the waste haulers working in Aspen also offer curbside compost service.
Recycling items such as holiday light strands, Christmas trees, residential yard waste, and household batteries is available (depending on the season) at the Rio Grande Recycling Center on Rio Grande Place across from Obermeyer Place.
Aspen's Rio Grande Recycling Center is now a Single Stream System.
- All recyclables may be put together into any of the yellow topped bins. Click here to see the items that may be recycled together which now include brown paper bags, phone books, cereal boxes (paperboard) and milk cartons.
- Soiled pizza and food boxes may NOT be recycled. Food grease and stains contaminate the recycling process and are therefore considered trash.
- Trash is not accepted and illegal dumping is monitored and prosecuted.
