Events

ZGreen Events

Aspen is home to more than 30 annual events attended by approximately 40,000 people. Events are the face of Aspen to many locals and visitors and demonstrate our environmental values.

Requirements: All events applying for a special events permit are now required by City Council to meet ZGreen event standards.

Voluntary Certification: If you’re having an event that is not required to complete a special event permit and does not need to meet the ZGreen standards, you can still be a ZGreen event by applying for voluntary certification using the same checklist.

Services

The ZGreen program offers many resources and services to help event planners reduce the environmental impacts of their events. The program recently won a grant from the Community Office for Resource Efficiency to have a portable solar PV system built. Named Sunny the Solar Roller, the system is free for local event planners to borrow (when available) and provides onsite, clean, renewable energy to events!
